Hi everyone, I know it’s been a min since I’ve posted, luckily this is “The” 08-resolution.
-To post, post, post.
———————————————————————

In December I went for a short visit in NL my first one actually. Before my stay it had struck me that the Netherlands (and Belgium also for that matter) are real musicfolk. I know lately I’ve mostly hear/read about how they are one their way about to cure overpopulation, ca 15 million living on one square meter, with engineering an new island à la Dubai …tulipshaped. Also that the last years there has been some political murders.
When me and my dj first set foot in the country the kind meet’n'great-person said: -Don’t belive the rumour about NL. My mind quietly went: What rumour, what rumour???” and then it turned out that he was talking about the classical Redlight-district and coffeeshop rumour.
Amsterdam is the home of Rush hour and Kindred Spirit both these labels carry nobel Soul/jazz/dance/broken releases from acts as: Rednose Distrikt, Comtron, Carl Craig, Heavy, Jneiro Jarel, Sun ra, Rich Medina and many more
Anyone that has been following my blogging knows that my heart is a sucker coming to the beats, I will never ever be able to produce a wickiedy-wicked beat in all my life. Therefore NL is my dreamland! The home of instrumental music! I.N.T, Aardvarck, Louis Bordeaux, the Beat Dimensions guys, O.boogie & U-gene, Cinnaman. These are some but not nearly all of them.
So why am I NL:ing here on this blog right now?
The artist Ntjamrosie new album Atouba. I do think this soul/worldmusic singer is worth a spinn in your stereo. Check out the prelisten on the Appletree records site.

A film about Nina Simone starring Mary J. Blige is supposedly in the works.
The film, an MTV Films/ Paramount Pictures project, will among things take a look at Dr. Nina Simone’s relationship with her manager Clifton Henderson - who met her in Los Angeles in 1996 and was invited by her to move to France. Dr. Simone’s career took off during the 1960s, and the she was renowned for her powerful jazz ballads and protest songs, including “Mississippi Goddam” and “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black” - the song “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black” served as an anthem for the civil rights movement. Dr. Simone lived the later part of her life in France. She died in Carry Le Rouet on April 21st, 2003.
The film will star Mary J Blige as Nina Simone and will be produced by Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine along with Lauren Lloyd, Gene Kirkwood and Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg. A director has not been named, but the screenplay is to be written by television writer Cynthia Mort (”Will & Grace,” “Roseanne”).
