August 31, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Hey everyone. I got a few things to put out. First off, I am still working on the redesign. Hopefully in a little over a week you will see a complete redesign of this site plus a new logo. We are also getting a whole new forum/messageboard where you can post and discuss all types of stuff. We are also looking for guest bloggers/contributors to the site to write about culture, fashion, design/arts, reviews ,music similar to what you see on the site, etc. If you are interested, please email us at rhythmlab@mpr.org. We are also working on our e-newsletter too. So for those who signed up, this will be coming real soon. Once the design is complete, we will be back to regular posting. If any of you have suggestions or ideas on what you like to see on this site, please post your comment here.

We Rep Minneapolis
August 8, 2007 | 5 Comments

First of all, I want to apologize for not posting in a week. This past week has been crazy. The Bridge in Minneapolis had me worried for friends, then Don Cuco move to Brooklyn, and I am currently in the hospital for Crohn’s flare up. Which I have to say is not fun. I got the internet working using my phone and laptop (I know I am a geek) and I wanted to post something.
Myself and Don Cuco want to give are prayers to the families and victims of the I-35w Bridge collapse. The bridge had a lot of meaning to me. Besides I used to come and go to work and gigs on that bridge, but it brought a lot of memories for Minneapolis. Even though I live in Milwaukee and Don Cuco lives in Brooklyn we still do the show and have mad love for Minneapolis.
If it wasn’t for Minneapolis and the people I have gotten to know, I wouldn’t be doing a radio show and DJing, and found my passion for music over six years ago. I am quite thankful to DJ Jen from the Groove Garden on KFAI to give me my first opportunity to be on radio over 6 years ago. I give thanks to the Rhymesayers for showing love and support and allowing me to see some great shows and meet some great people and help out on their radio show as well. Also MPR and the Currrent for giving us an opportunity to do the Rhythm Lab(big ups to Steve and Derrick). I also want to thank Don Cuco especially for giving my first club gig so long ago. Minneapolis means a lot to me, and I glad to call it home.
For those interested there is I-35W Bridge fund. Just click here
There will be also be a benefit concert at the the fine line.
Love and Respect,
DJ Tarik, The Rhythm Lab
